You know which fields do it. Every year, the same yellow strips.
WillRock Ag IDC Defense is an in-furrow iron package built for the high-calcium, cool, wet ground where soybeans go chlorotic. It carries 1.90% chelated iron as EDDHSA — the chelate that stays available in high-pH soil — plus sulfur, cobalt and molybdenum. About $8.00 an acre at 1 quart, and one 2 × 2.5 gallon case covers 20 acres.
The chelate is the whole product. Iron sulfate and EDTA-chelated iron tie up almost immediately in calcareous soil — the iron is in the ground, it just is not available to the plant. EDDHSA holds iron in solution where EDTA cannot.
What’s working for you
Iron at 1.90%, fully chelated as EDDHSA, is what the plant needs to make chlorophyll and run photosynthesis. This is the direct answer to the interveinal yellowing of Iron Deficiency Chlorosis, and the reason to place it in-furrow where the seedling root will find it first.
Cobalt at 0.02% is required by Rhizobia to produce vitamin B12, which the bacteria need in order to fix nitrogen. A chlorotic soybean is usually a poorly nodulated soybean; cobalt addresses the second half of that problem.
Molybdenum at 0.025% is the co-factor in nitrogenase — the enzyme that actually fixes atmospheric nitrogen. Without it the nodule forms and does not perform.
Sulfur at 3.00% water soluble supports chlorophyll formation, nodulation and protein synthesis, which puts it on the same job as everything else in the jug.
Why growers choose it
- EDDHSA chelate — stays available in the high-calcium soils where EDTA iron ties up
- Placed in-furrow — the seedling root finds the iron at the moment it needs it
- Targets your worst ground — built for high-pH, calcareous, cool and wet early-season conditions
- Supports nodulation, not just color — cobalt and molybdenum feed nitrogen fixation directly
- Flexible rate — 1 pint to 5 quarts per acre depending on how bad the field is
- Compatible with starters — works with water, fertilizer and most NPK starter mixes
Coverage
Sold in 2 × 2.5 gallon jugs (36 cases per pallet) or 250-gallon totes. At 1 quart per acre, one case covers 20 acres at about $8.00 per acre.
How to apply
Shake well before using. Apply 1 pint to 5 quarts per acre. In-furrow application is recommended; the product may also be run through controlled irrigation systems. Recirculate material when drawing from an ICB, and clean application equipment with water after every use.
Compatible with water, fertilizer and most NPK starter mixes — jar test to verify before mixing.
WARNING: this product contains molybdenum. Do not apply to crops that will be grazed by ruminant animals.
