Per-acre cost based on the 2.5% v/v rate at 15 gallons of carrier per acre. Cost per acre moves with your carrier volume and rate — at 1.25% v/v and 15 GPA it is roughly half that.
Hard water takes glyphosate apart before it ever leaves the tank.
OptiFit H2O is a low-foaming premix of ammonium sulfate, non-ionic surfactant, dispersant and sugar release technology. It conditions hard water, then drives herbicide uptake and translocation once the spray is on the leaf. It is built specifically to improve weed control with glyphosate and glufosinate.
It carries 2.8 pounds of dry-equivalent ammonium sulfate per gallon, and at a 1.25 gallon per 100 gallon use rate it also delivers a full pint of non-ionic surfactant. That is a water conditioner and a surfactant handled in one jug and one pour.
What’s working for you
Ammonium sulfate ties up the calcium, magnesium, iron and other hard water cations that bind glyphosate and render it unavailable. This is the single most common reason a herbicide pass underperforms in hard water country.
Sugar release technology increases uptake and translocation of the herbicide, moving more active ingredient into the plant and further through it — which matters most on the perennials and larger weeds where translocation determines whether a kill holds.
Non-ionic surfactant improves wetting and penetration on the leaf surface.
Dispersant technology improves tank mix compatibility with suspension concentrate (SC) and EC pesticides — the mixes most likely to give you trouble.
Why growers choose it
- Water conditioner and surfactant in one — 2.8 lb AMS per gallon plus non-ionic surfactant in a single premix
- Built for glyphosate and glufosinate — improves weed control where hard water is costing performance
- Sugar release technology — increases herbicide uptake and translocation
- Dispersant built in — better compatibility with SC and EC pesticides
- Low foaming — less time fighting the tank
- Reduces drift — more of the load on your target
- Liquid premix — no dry AMS to dissolve, no sediment, no plugged screens
- Broadly compatible — compatible with most herbicides
Coverage
Sold in 2 × 2.5 gallon jugs (5 gallons per case) or a 250-gallon tote — $22.20 per gallon at case pricing.
At the 2.5% v/v rate and 15 gallons of carrier per acre, one case covers about 13 acres at roughly $8.33 per acre. At 1.25% v/v and the same carrier volume, one case covers about 27 acres. Measured against the tank rather than the acre, one case treats 200 to 400 gallons of finished spray solution.
How to apply
Use rate: 1.25 to 5.0% v/v. Follow the herbicide label for specific rates, mixing instructions and other precautionary instructions.
This product provides 2.8 pounds of dry ammonium sulfate per gallon, and 1 pint of non-ionic surfactant at a 1.25 gallon per 100 gallon use rate.
Mixing: Fill the spray tank half full of water and begin agitation. Add pesticides as directed by their label, or in this sequence, continuing to fill the tank: (1) dry flowables or water dispersing granules, (2) wettable powders, (3) flowables, (4) solutions, (5) emulsifiable concentrates. Continue agitation until the spray solution is completely mixed, then add the recommended amount of OptiFit H2O. Continuous agitation of the finished spray is recommended. If the spray solution has been allowed to stand, thoroughly agitate and remix before application.
Compatibility: compatible with most pesticides. If the desired combination has not been previously used, a compatibility test is recommended.
Storage: store in a closed, dry area in the original sealed container. Avoid freezing.
WARNING: causes eye irritation. Wash thoroughly after handling.
